After the recent PS4 Gentoo Kernel Sources 5.3.7 with Baikal Chip Patches, here is a guide by me (@mircohoooo) covering how to install Gentoo Linux on PlayStation 4 and turn your PS4 into an emulation station! 🐧

## How to Install Gentoo and Turn Your PS4 into an Emulation Station

## ✏ Intro:

If Your System Firmware is 5.05, you already know that you have the luck to use a Kernel Exploit which gives you the ability to run a Linux Distribution.

The principle is the same as Fedora for firmware 1.76, you need to copy the image file to a USB stick or hard drive. You can use the tools RUFUS (GUI) in Windows, Etcher for MacOSx or DD under Linux.

After installation, you can enlarge the Linux partition with Gparted in Gentoo, for example if you have installed it on an SSD or HDD on the USB 3.0 port.

  • CUH-1006A and CUH-7016B

PS4 Linux Gentoo DOOM Gameplay (Vulkan)

The same happens to me, the Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connection is turned off. Any solution. And someone can make a video like installing vulkan.

wifi only works and blue tooth when you turn the ps4 off for a while after you already was on linux for like a half hour maybe be less not sure why its like that but i wish some one fix this on all ps4 linux distros

@james40 But when i shut wlan off bluetooth works fine, no problem, the problem is something in the wlan. Wlan works for a while and then it suddenly stops and makes the bluetooth funny.

If something goes wrong with the Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connection, it goes well for a while and then disconnects and cannot reconnect. Unless you turn off and turn on the play again.

I would like someone to do a step-by-step tutorial to play games like doom. With api vulkan and vram 3.

I tried different stuff to keep the wlan alive, but it seems that the ethernet card is unfindable, at first when i give the rfkill list command, it is there together with the bluetooth, but when it crashes only bluetooth is there, don' t know if there is a way to get it visible again.

Just wanted to give a heads up. I appear to have found a way that the wlan keeps alive. After the start up i shut out wlan with the button, then i open a terminal, login as root:
  • su -
  • then give the password, by default ps4
  • then cd /etc/init.d
  • and give the command
  • NetworkManager restart
after this i switch the button on and wlan stays alive.

I'm a real noob with linux, so don't shoot me when my way is to stupid, i'm just glad it works.

I've managed to get this working but for the life of me I can't get Kodi to run. I try to open Kodi and it does nothing.

I investigated Kodi folder and its empty. I ran pacman -S xbmc from terminal but it gave error.

Any ideas ?

And has someone succeeded at getting an STB emulator to run on Kodi under ps4 environment? If so, how?
