RetroArch QuickNES & Picodrive PS2 on PS4 Emulator Ports Arrive

Following his PGEN PS2 on PS4 Emulator Port and SMS PSP Emulator for PS4, today PlayStation 4 developer @Markus95 released via Twitter two new RetroArch PS2 on PS4 versions of the Nintendo Entertainment System emulator QuickNES and the Sega Master System / MegaDrive emulator Picodrive to enjoy your favorite retrogaming ROMs with.

To quote from the blog post on Logic-Sunrise.com, roughly translated: They are both compatible on PS4 4.05, 4.55, 4.74, 5.05 and 5.07, moreover thanks to Fltrujy (developer of PS2 versions) CDFS support: / is now functional, so you can add your own fullset if needed for each emulator.

As usual they are published without ROMs, to add them yourself, here is the procedure to follow:

• Unzip the archive Retroarch.rar
• Then decompile QuickNES.pkg and / or Picodrive.pkg with FAKE_PKG_Generator (orbis-pub-chk.exe) Password: 00000000000000000000000000000000
• In the folder Image / recover disc01.iso file
• Open this disc01.iso file with WinRAR or other
• You will find a ROMS folder for QuickNES and 2 folders MASTERSYSTEM and Megadrive for Picodrive
• Place ALL your ROMs in the corresponding folders
• Then create the iSO that you rename well disc01.iso with CDGenPS2 v3.0 / CDGenPS2_v3.0.rar (Mirror) (CDGenPS2 v2 / cdgenps2v2.zip (Mirror) per @Chaos Kid)
• Rebuild the FPKG with the new disc01.iso file including your own ROMs with the same password (00000000000000000000000000000000).

Two folders, Image0 and Sc0 ... am I renaming Sc0 to Sce_sys then dropping into Image0 which merges them? I can't seem to do this correctly and I think the "how to" is missing some info. Any help?

@MasterTurkey just cut/paste the contents of sc0 into the existing sce_sys folder and delete the sc0 folder.

I make fake pkg. and it just hangs at the retro arch logo splash screen.

I think I'm using pubgen incorrectly. Or I haven't copied the proper files into certain directories of pub gen. I think I'm setting up the image correctly, but I think I'm forgetting to put some file or fakesigned something or rather into a folder in the fakepkg tools...

or error , sce/sys playgo chuck dat - file name is not valid.

If someone can point out a flaw in my process that would be great.

• open orbis pub gen
• copy contents from image0 into image0 of orbis pub gen
• chunk tab / assign files to chunk0
• close chunk, open settings, place content id from sfo , pass code 0's, build pkg for digital only
• Rebuild the FPKG with the new disc01.iso file including your own ROMs with the same password (00000000000000000000000000000000).

Are there extra files I'm forgetting to copy into obis pub gen folder? What's with the chunk play go dat file being no valid? Essentially I'm just making rom image placing into folder and rebuilding but I think my rebuild is flawed.

@MasterTurkey only thing I can suggest is try v3.0 of CDgenPS2, and use gengp4 to capture the files for pubgen rather than manually and with the chunk thing.

Also make sure you’re using 3.38 of faketools.

Disclaimer : Not full rom set. My personal 'Favorites' set. It's missing some roms due to ps2 cd gen not liking the naming of certain ones. I was having such a hard time creating the fpkg that I didn't bother going back and renaming and readding those files. IF I have time this weekend I'll do that and reupload. I had to use the gp4 process, as chunk was giving me issues. FYI.
