Hello World! I've been reporting on Sony PlayStation hacking news since 2000 and started PSXHAX in 2014 to cover PlayStation (PSX), PlayStation 2 (PS2), PlayStation 3 (PS3), PlayStation 4 (PS4), PlayStation Portable (PSP), PlayStation Vita (PS Vita), PlayStation TV (PS TV) and next-gen PlayStation 5 (PS5) platforms along with anything else of interest.

Yeah, yeah... we know it wasn't working for a few weeks now, but since Sony updated their PS4 Firmware to version 4.05 it appears the passphrase changed and low and behold reports of users on 4.01 Firmware confirm it's now working again and they can connect to PSN without updating to v4.05!
Here are some related Tweets from the developer RedEyeX32:
Cheers to @mcmrc1 for the shout out in the PSXHAX Shoutbox and GAME ON PlayStation sceners!!

Following yesterday's PS4 4.01 Ksploit Demo and Sony's PS4 Firmware 4.05 security update, today Chaitin Tech of Chaitin.cn released a full version of their PS4 4.01 Jailbreak demonstrated at GeekPwn 2016... and confirmed due to contest rules they have reported the exploit used to Sony.
Needless to say, some PlayStation 4 developers including Rebug's @evilsperm are a little disappointed at this decision but in light of it as Wololo suggests if PS4 scene hacking groups have been using the same kernel exploit behind-the-scene they may now be willing to consider sharing them publicly.
Below are some hopeful innovations to come for PlayStation 4 sceners, including hints of a PS4 Rebug Custom Firmware (CFW) and multiMAN 4 (MM4) backup game manager... although at this time they just appear to be concept art and ideas so don't get too excited yet.
Stay tuned as we'll be doing a few follow-up articles on this covering details of the PS4 4.01 exploit believed to be used, and THANKS to @FimoHERE and @GrimDoe in the Shoutbox for the full Chaitin Technology Co., Ltd. PS4 FW 4.01 jailbreak video...
Well, well... the PS4 4.01 Ksploit that was demonstrated yesterday by the Chinese Pavilion Safety Research Lab may be confirmed by an unlikely source- Sony themselves, as they just released a PlayStation 4 System Software 4.05 Update this morning which 'improves' the quality of the system performance!
To quote from Sony's European Page: An update to the system software for PlayStation 4 systems was released on 25 October 2016. You can use this to update your system software to version 4.05.
Main features in system software update 4.05
This system software update improves the quality of the system performance.
As always, we'll update this article when confirmation from PlayStation 4 hackers comes... until then it's probably a very, very good bet to NOT update your PS4 Firmware just yet!
