I will post this as a separate thread from the PS4 PKG2USB as the 2 payloads vary and it saves confusion.

Original Post: I was playing around with the ext0 mount and recreating the file structure that would be there if the pkg was installed to external storage.

There is a trick I found where if you copy the CUSAXXXXX folder from /user/app to /mnt/ext0/user/app and then unplug the hdd and plug it back in it causes the ps4 to do a repair and then the game is recognized as installed on external storage and from there there are other issues.

BUT with the great work SiSTRo has done in PKG2USB with the symlinks its a lot easier to manage with exfat and just normal USB.

So building on his PKG2USB and symlinks I modified what I was working on for the ext0 mount to work with the usb0 or usb1 and symlinks.

This payload searches the entire /user/app folder and copies all installed fpkg games to usb from the system drive and creates the symlinks like SiSTRo has kindly shown us the ability to do.

If you want to target a single game not the whole folder use PKG2USB.

If you install more games just run the payload again and it will copy any new games to the USB and so on.

With symlinks you are making a link to a directory so you want to pick which USB port to have the hdd on and keep it on that same port or the links will point to the wrong directory. USB0 is what I use.

@ragepoo Ya the APPtoUSB that you see on the exploit page never works for me either. I have to use NETCAT and inject the APPtoUSB manually. I don't know why the one on the exploit page doesn't work (yet). Manually works all the time.

@Lidor Baum Not sure if I can see the external usb hd attached to the ps4 from the FTP on the computer (haven't tired it yet ....) or are you talking about the app meta on the ps4 internal? If you are talking about overwritting the icon0.png on the ps4 internal won't the external hd overwrite it? I'll try it tonight when i get home tonight and let ya know

@stripnwild yes, internal appmeta folder. (back it up before making changes).

I didn't use the app2usb after replacing icons via ftp, but you can disable the appmeta on the app2usb ini and it won't change nothing.

@Lidor Baum Ya in ftp that is how i used to change the game covers when they were all internal. So i opened up ftp...you can not see the external drive on the ps4. and in the internal app meta folder is my old game cover....it seems the .dds file is overriding the .png?

So maybe those 5 game i'll have to figure out something else (AND i dont think .dds support transparent background which of course i did with all my game covers so they aren't stretched to the 512 by 512)

@Lidor Baum - no go. i changed the internal icon0.png and the icon0.dds and the external drive ones too. The ps4 is still using the original pic on the xmb?? (like i said earlier there are a few games like this..all 3 battlefield games, and three dragon quest games, dragon age inquisition)

@stooged mentioned maybe try changing the pic0.dds / pic1.dds. also - so this is my next step. I'll keep you posted

@WarCoZes Thanks that is what the case is!!! once i changed ALL the icon0.png, icon0_2.png etc it fixed the battlefield game cover on the xmb! (changing the pic0.dds doesn't affect it as it is the 1920 x 1080 image) Thanks WarCoZes!!
