I will post this as a separate thread from the PS4 PKG2USB as the 2 payloads vary and it saves confusion.

Original Post: I was playing around with the ext0 mount and recreating the file structure that would be there if the pkg was installed to external storage.

There is a trick I found where if you copy the CUSAXXXXX folder from /user/app to /mnt/ext0/user/app and then unplug the hdd and plug it back in it causes the ps4 to do a repair and then the game is recognized as installed on external storage and from there there are other issues.

BUT with the great work SiSTRo has done in PKG2USB with the symlinks its a lot easier to manage with exfat and just normal USB.

So building on his PKG2USB and symlinks I modified what I was working on for the ext0 mount to work with the usb0 or usb1 and symlinks.

This payload searches the entire /user/app folder and copies all installed fpkg games to usb from the system drive and creates the symlinks like SiSTRo has kindly shown us the ability to do.

If you want to target a single game not the whole folder use PKG2USB.

If you install more games just run the payload again and it will copy any new games to the USB and so on.

With symlinks you are making a link to a directory so you want to pick which USB port to have the hdd on and keep it on that same port or the links will point to the wrong directory. USB0 is what I use.

Thanks again to SiSTRo, xVortex, Anonymous, CelesteBlue!

Are we now able to move specific apps to ext hdd? Like if I just want to move 2 out of 10 games, instead of ignoring 8, just specify the 2 on the .ini file. Thanks @stooged for all your work! And for the devs that made PKG2USB possible!

So this app modifies the overall space indicator of the internal HDD.
Question for me is: how do you get back to the original and "real" overall space of the built in HDD in case of disaster.

For example if your external HDD fails. I fear this might confuse the PS4 OS internal settings on the long run.

That's why I don't use such workarounds. I don't understand why people need to move their games to an external hdd tbh. Just install them on your internal and be done with it. Even if you have a small internal hdd, just install as much as it can fit. Then when you finish a game, delete it and install another. Or just upgrade your internal to a larger one.

@smoere i found that question a good one, so i tried it for the sport.
when u delete the package afterwards it decreases the max size by the pkg's size, in other words, returns everything to the original position.

@mschumacher69 k man, "just" send me 400$ to my paypal so i can upgrade my 500gb internal to 8tb, just 'cause i have 8tb external but i can't use it right.

besides, why to be settled with it? to install "as much as it can fit", why to even run exploits on your console at all? if your pockets are filled then yea upgrading internal shouldn't be a big of a problem, but last time i checked my pockets were filled with dust.

8 TB?? You have 8 TB of games?? And you need all those games installed on your PS4 at once?? Can't you settle for a few games on your 500 GB, play them and then delete them as you finish with them and install others?? Do you really need an 8 TB HDD for your PS4???

@mschumacher69 u don't play tekken to finish, u dont play street fighter, fifa, nba, nhl, mortal kombat, injustice to finish now do u? and why to settle? the question is why? why do u need to live locked in a cell?

especially when i have 2 drives of 8 tb external lying in front of me blinking eyes to me.

A 1 TB internal would be enough for those sports/fighting games and a few other adventure games that you play and finish. You can use the 8 TB externals for storage/archiving and the internal for playing.

Anyways, to each their own.

@mschumacher69 those were examples, 1 tb is nothing.

and again man, the point is, u don't need to be settled with it, u need to have fun with it, not to lock yourself in a cage and once in a while free 1gb for u to use.
