Recently @stooged lent a hand sharing both details with source code on Backing Up and Restoring the PS4 Database, and he followed up with a handy DbBackup.bin Payload compiled for PS4 4.05 OFW users to backup their PlayStation 4 database to a USB Drive alongside one for dumping save data below.

Download: DbBackup.zip / Source Code / DB_SG_Backup.zip (8.79 KB - dumps save data into a folder called GameSaves) / DB_SG_Backup_v2.zip (8.27 KB - Dumps All User Accounts) / DB_SG_Backup3.zip (8.82 KB - Adds Notification Messages from 2much4u) / DB_Backup_455.zip (Updated for 4.55) / usb_455_db_backup.zip (0.02 MB) / Cache-Install: ApplicationCache.db / DB_SG_Backup-50X (Latest) / GIT

To quote from his recent post with usage instructions:

just put a usb stick/drive into the usb port and run the DbBackup.bin payload

it will save the addcont.db and app.db files inside a folder called DB_Dackup on the usb drive.

if you do not use a usb stick/drive it will backup the database into the /system_data/priv/mms/ folder on the ps4 and it will be called app.db_backup.

to restore the db just ftp into the /system_data/priv/mms/ directory and upload your backup copy.

credit to @XVortex for the neat way to check which usb port has the drive in it in their ps4dumper source, I tried a few other things with no decent result but @XVortex had a simple method to do the trick :)

hello guys, (my english is not that good)
i wanna ask, if i backup my save data via db_sg_backup.bin and then format (reset data) my whole ps4 hdd from safe mode. so will this restore_db.bin playload will restore my profile and saves again ?

No. The only way to do that is to use the PS4's built-in Backup/Restore utility, but you need to have signed in to PSN at least once to be able to restore to another PS4.

Here is my Scenario:

I have a fat ps4 that was my main one, so i have my psn account on there and everything working properly, recently i bought a ps4 pro, i was lucky enough to find one on 4.73 so i updated it to 5.05 and jailbroke it BUT i noticed that i wasn't going to be able to log in to my psn account because of the lower firmware, and im not able to transfer my data from my old to my new one cuz of the psn limitation.

so i wondered... "what if i backup my old ps4 user data and then put it on my ps4 pro? would that work?" I could try but im afraid i will brick my new ps4 pro so idk what to do :X3:

If your old fat has already signed it to PSN, then yes you can restore it to the Pro. You don't need to sign in to PSN on the new Pro, you just need to have signed in to PSN at least once on the original PS4 to be able to restore it to a new PS4.

And don't worry you won't brick, there's no chance of bricking when attempting to restore, it either works or it doesn't.
