PS4 System Software / Firmware 5.53 Released, Don't Update!

Following the PS Vita Firmware 3.68 Update earlier this week and their previous PS4 OFW, it appears Sony is once again on the warpath with yet another PS4 System Software / Firmware 5.53 update which 'improves system performance' via patching more holes that could be exploited by PS4 hackers to allow jailbreaking and homebrew... so needless to say, DON'T UPDATE!

Update: PlayStation scene developer @Mathieulh confirmed on Twitter that PS4 OFW 5.53 fixes the currently available WebKit Exploit, and those interested in comparing revisions can grab the latest 5.53 WebKit here: webkit-601_2_7-553.zip (788 MB)

December 18, 2025, 4:45pm.... After work, i'm turning my pc, and browsing my favorite site -psxhax. Browsing trough news, oh wow, playstation 8 quantum hits the stores, huge discounts. Sony releases new god of war: uzbekistan mythology, sequel of god of war 6, nice....

Scrolling more... Wait, no way! Impossible! Hacker asdfghjkl released 5.50 jailbreak!!!! Jumping across the room, on my way i kick my useless ps7 (don't need it anymore, now i have 5.50 jailbreak for my ps4), open my closed and getting my ps4, turn it on, and finally updated to 5.50, then i do magic browser jailbreak...not enough memory....

Half hour later, exploit loads, in ecstasy i install fifa 18, woooow finally i can play new games on my fresh ps4. Then i woke up.

So seriously, why not update? Someone really believes that someone will release new fw jailbreak soon? Like today, tomorrow? Next week?

If not, we don't need it. It was fun, but without fresh version, bye bye jailbreak, there's so many new games worth playing NOW , not in few years, and i buy my ps to play, not to wait....
