PS4NES Nintendo Emulator for 5.05 Firmware Updated by M0rph3us1987

Based on LaiNES for PS4 5.05 jailbroken consoles, today m0rph3us1987 updated his PS4NES Nintendo Entertainment System emulator port to version 1.01 with the changes outlined below.

This comes following his initial release and previous revision of the PS4 NES Emulator for PlayStation 4.

And from the included Readme.txt in EP0001-PNES00001_00-RELEASE000000001-A0100-V0101_V505.rar, to quote: Whats new in version 1.01?

1) Rom list can now be scrolled using d-pad.
2) NES select buttons has been mapped to ps4 touchpad button.
3) Rom folder can be configured in /mnt/usb0/ps4nes/config.json
4) Minimal improvement in audio output.

How to use?

1) Copy the ps4nes folder on the root of your usb drive.
2) Change "roms_path" in config.json to the location where your roms are.
3) Install pkg on ps4 and have fun

How do you get player 2 working for 2 player games? I've tried several 2 player games with my friend (battle city, contra, double dragon) but player 2 controls don't respond to anything.

I have had a lot of fun with this emulator shame it doesn't support mapper 30.

What's the password for PKG file extraction?

@astronman I don't think anyone knows the pass for this PKG except the one that made it.

To get around the pass install PKG on ps4 and run and dump it.

Back around the time that Berlin hacker convention I remember this being brought up. Oh, it's that M0rph3us who is working on NES emulation. Granted, this was before proof of concept for Retroarch. I think that ended up being vaporware as well.

Also I remember Silica or someone in that group of friends saying PS4 was too hard to develop for, in conjuction with Team fail0verflow's 2016 keynote covering how backwards Sony did this system to circumvent hacking that it's not very fluid or traditional to develop for.

Now with that brief thoughts out of the way.... With RetroGamer_74 interviewing m0rph3us yesterday. If you watch his body language and the tone. He said he was disgusted that nobody put the effort into doing Homebrew.... ??? Says the man who gave up on his own project... a NES EMULATOR.. which I would think would be fairly straight forward to perfect. 30 something years of other people's work. And his NES EMULATOR on PS4 stutters, chops, I didn't try it just saw the videos.

But why did he give up? Was it a lost cause? Retroarch developers gave up too. That's some str8 up hypocrisy. Bailed on his own project, blames community for not porting emulators, blames community only interested in hacking their game console to play... GAMEZ???

hey guys. I tried v1.01 with HEN 2.11, 2.1 and 2.0 and it crashes before loading. Do i need 1.0 first and then update? In that case, the v1.0 link is down, can someone share a good one? If no first 1.0 and then 1.01 is needed, any idea what's wrong maybe? I'm obviously in 5.05.
