While Sony's PlayStation Now digital online streaming service doesn't appear to be going in the direction PlayStation Vue went last year, a System and Method for Streaming Game Video patent (sonypatentstream.pdf) that surfaced recently reinforces the importance placed on cloud gaming while mitigating p!racy in the console game industry.
To quote from the recently discovered Sony patent via TorrentFreak.com:
“[Games] can no longer be p!rated as they are today. Because each game is stored and executed at the hosting service, users are not provided with access to the underlying program code, so there is nothing to p!rate.
Even if a user were to copy the source code, the user would not be able to execute the code on a standard game console or home computer,” Sony adds.
In contrast, another school of thought is if humans make the code then they can also break the code... as evidenced in Denuvo V11's latest failure expressed by EMPRESS in the NFO:

In PS5 News proceeding the previous update today Sony released PS5 System Software / Firmware v3.21 (Version 21.01-03.21.00) following the Leaked PS5 DevKit, which according to the changelog improves system performance once again to make the PlayStation 5 console even more stable.
After skipping last month's E3 2021 virtual event, today Sony launches their next PlayStation State of Play stream featuring an extended look at Deathloop alongside indie and third-party updates including a Blackreef Island reality warping tour.
This latest State of Play PlayStation media extravaganza comes proceeding their previous PlayStation State of Play back in May of this year and is scheduled to last around 30 minutes in length.
To quote from Sony Content Communications Senior Director Sid Shuman on what to expect:
The show kicks off at 2pm Pacific / 5pm Eastern / 11pm CEST, viewable on Twitch or YouTube.
In this extended gameplay sequence, we’ll see Colt use his abilities to stealthily skulk across rooftops... or go in guns blazing to create a whole lot of mayhem. Lots of options available on Blackreef Island.
In addition to this long look at Bethesda’s violent adventure, we’ll have updates on some exciting indie and third-party titles. The full show clocks in around 30 minutes.
This showcase will not include updates on the next God of War, Horizon Forbidden West or the next generation of PlayStation VR. Stay tuned throughout the summer though, as we’ll have more updates soon.
Starting today Sony's latest Planet of the Discounts promotion is live on PlayStation Store featuring discounts on a spectacular range of titles including Resident Evil 3, UFC4, Jump Force Deluxe Edition and many more through July 21st at 11:59pm local time.
