Square Enix Lifts Time Restriction on Final Fantasy XIV Free Trial
Fire up the chocobos, today Square Enix announced they're no longer restricting the Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn PS4 free trial to 14 days so MMORPG gamers can play as long as they wish now up to level 35! :laughxf2:

Here are the details straight from Square Enix Community Representative Daniela Wnuk, to quote:

Good news – the clock isn’t ticking anymore!

The Final Fantasy XIV free trial has unequipped its 14-day time restriction. Free trial players are now able to access all content up to level 35 without any clock ticking the play time away! Adventurers can try out awesome jobs, test their skills on the first 10 levels of the Deep Dungeon and indulge in all the activities the Gold Saucer has to offer, such as Chocobo Racing!

The time restriction has been removed from all free trial accounts – even the expired accounts will be brought back to life, allowing players to continue their previous adventures. If you tried the free trial before but time flew by too fast, you can come back and pick up exactly where you left off with the same character!

Perhaps you played the free trial three years ago and didn’t have the time to try out everything you wanted, well now’s the time to return! Polish your skills in the Hall of the Novice and learn how all of the different roles work. Take your time, sit on the pier admiring the sunset at Costa del Sol whilst levelling up your fisher. Got an ache for new shiny weapons? Try out blacksmithing! If you want to truly test your skills, you could face the hardest battle on the free trial and overcome Titan, the Lord of Crags, himself!

Eorzea is your oyster! You can level up all classes to level 35 – you have all the time in the world. Click here to download the free trial client from PlayStation Store! See you in Eorzea!
PS4 Real Time Memory Editor for Linux on Retail Consoles by J0lama
Since his previous updates and with help from PlayStation 4 developer @theorywrong, today @j0lama let us know on his Blog of his PS4 Real Time Memory Editor for Linux on PlayStation 4 retail consoles! :lovexf2:

From the README.md: PS4-Real-Time-Memory-Editor

Introduction

PS4 Real Time Memory Editor for Linux for retail consoles.

Read/Write in a game memory to create mods like PS3 with tmapi and ccapi.

This version a little demo.

I will improve the system with a graphic interface and the possibility of read and write arrays. I will release a windows/linux library to work with this easily.

Thanks to TheoryWrong for answer my noob questions.

And from j0lama's WebSite to quote, roughly translated: #Real Time Memory Editor (Retail PS4)

Description

My main goal in PS4 was to develop a system that would allow me to edit the memory of the games that are running on the PS4 in order to be able to create modifications of the games and to cheat them.

This system is very similar to the one used in PS3 (ps3tmapi is the method used by the debug or ccapi consoles, developed by Enstone and allows to edit the memory of the games in retail consoles).

The system that I show you today is based on the call to the system ptrace and that in the PS4 corresponds to the syscall 26.

The system runs through the exploit of WebKit published by cTurt and allows random execution of codido.

Once we get code execution on the system, we raise privileges with the exploit dlclose discovered by cTurt and published by kR105. It is important to note that while the thread that raises privileges is running, there is a moment in which the direct writing in memory is activated that besides being used by the exploit also the use to disable Address Space Layout Randomization (ASLR), which is a method Which implement modern operating systems to "randomize" the memory zone where a process begins when it is...

PS4 Pro Gets 4K Video Support with Latest Media Player Update
Today PS4 Pro users will be getting 4K video support on 4K compatible TV sets for MP4 format videos playable from USB sticks or home servers with the latest PlayStation Media Player update! :gigglexf2:

Here is the full scoop from Sony VP John Koller, to quote:

Starting later today, the Media Player app is getting an update to support 4K video playback on PS4 Pro. Following this update, 4K videos in mp4 format saved on a USB stick or home server can be played on the Media Player app (remember, you’ll also need a 4K compatible TV to watch the videos in 4K).

Your home server will appear as a media option in the Player automatically, so finding your media is simple and quick. Just a reminder: USB storage that’s already been formatted as extended storage for your PS4 can only be used to save games and apps — it can’t be used to save and play videos.

For those of you that own PlayStation VR in addition to PS4 Pro, Media Player will also update to support playback of 4K VR video content. PS VR’s display resolution is 1920 X RGB X 1080, so 4K VR videos will be displayed in a higher image quality compared to HD VR videos. Capture stunning 360 degree 4K footage, and then immerse yourself in that footage in VR at home — just as if you’re right back in the scene you shot.

And while on the topic of 4K, many of you have already been enjoying 4K streaming on PS4 Pro, but in case you weren’t aware, streaming video apps including Netflix, YouTube, and Hulu all have 4K content available, so make sure to check them out.
PS4Mono: DualShock 4 PS4 Controller Library for MonoGame by Mystborn
Recently developer Mystborn made available PS4Mono on Github, which is an open source DualShock 4 Library for using PS4 Controllers in MonoGame with details below. :smilexf2:

This news comes following a DualShock 4 Windows Guide, DS4Windows App Revision, DS4 PS4 Firmware Dump & Reversing Tools and DS4Lib USB Linux Library update.

Download: PS4Mono-master.zip / PS4Mono GIT / MonoGame Latest Release / MonoGame GIT

From the ReadMe.md, to quote: PS4Mono

Library for using PS4 Controllers in Monogame

To initialize the controllers, go to your game's initialize method and add this code:
Code:
PS4Mono.InputManager.Initialize(this)
Then in your game's update method go ahead and add this at the end:
Code:
PS4Mono.InputManager.Update()
That's all it needs to be set up. To actually use the code, call one of the various GampadCheck functions.
Code:
bool down = PS4Mono.InputManager.GamepadCheck(0, Buttons.A);

bool justPressed = PS4Mono.InputManager.GamepadCheckPressed(0, Buttons.A);
There's a special version of this that doesn't work on a frame by frame basis, so if you want to only check the buttons being pressed at the exact moment of time of the function call use:
Code:
PS4Mono.InputManager.GamepadCheckAsync(0, Buttons.A);
To set the deadzone used to check if the joystick is being held in a specific direction, you can set this property to a value between 0 and 1.
Code:
PS4Mono.InputManager.GamepadAxisDeadZone = value;
The program only looks for new controllers every 2 seconds, so dont expect your game to react to new input immediately. You can change this in the source code inside the...
