PS4 PUP Unpacker via IDC Platform-Independent Rewrite by Zer0xFF
Early this year we reported on some PS4 PUP Decrypt / Unpack Updates by IDC (Twitter), and today PlayStation 4 developer Zer0xFF announced he's done a platform-independent C++ rewrite of the PS4 PUP Unpacker supporting OSX / Linux / Win32 and potentially the PS4 console itself in time! :ninja:

Download: ps4-pup-unpacker-master.zip / GIT

To quote from his latest Blog Article: PS4 PUP Unpacker Re-Written

I decided to look at ps4-pup_unpack by github user idc, twitter 3226_2143 account, its function is simple, unpack the (decrypted) pup files. You see pup is actually a container and has more files inside it (some of those files are also containers and have more files inside them).

However, I'm a Linux/OSX user first then rarely a Windows but the tool was written in C-Sharp and was using .Net library both specifically made for Windows devices, thus the decision was made to rewrite it using C++ and keep the code platform-independent, the result, the code now runs on Ubuntu/OSX/Win32 with mere 2 lines of difference.

Github Repo:

https://github.com/Thunder07/ps4-pup-unpacker

I've sent a PR to the original creator in effort to upstream the changes, else, you'll always find the code in my repo

Ok I've decided with idc to push the code to a new repo, link above updated.

And from the README.md file: pup_unpacker

A utility to unpack PS4 update blobs that have been previously decrypted using pup_decrypt. this is based on idc/ps4-pup_unpack rewritten with C++ and runs on...
New PlayStation 4 Syscalls & PS4 Libkernel Syscall Labeler by X41
Since the PS4 3.55 Syscall Fun, PS4 4.05 Offsets and PS4 Syscall Kernel Patch Twitter user 3226:2143‏ passed along word that recently some newer PS4 syscalls have been added to the Developer Wiki alongside a PS4 Libkernel Syscall Labeler IDA Interactive Disassembler IDC script by X41 to complement the previously released symbols.idc. :geekxf2:

Also below are some updated PS4 Firmware 5.01 System Information button combo instructions following the recent Roxanne (roXyPS3) details.

From PSDevWiki.com to quote: PlayStation 4 Syscalls

The PS4 kernel is based on FreeBSD 9.0; a list of standard FreeBSD 9.0 system calls can be found here.

Compatibility system calls, and some others, have been disabled. The first custom Sony system call comes immediately after the last FreeBSD system call, wait6, and is number 532. Currently, the last known custom Sony system call is 651, the names, function, and signatures of system calls 618-651 are currently unknown as they were implemented > 1.76. Calling any system calls higher than 651 gives the same result as calling a compatibility or unimplemented system call, a "There is not enough free system memory" error/segfault.

Of these 85 explored system calls (532 - 617):
  • Two will not be implemented in retail units (possibly in devkits though) and...
Sony Details PlayStation 4 Pro 4K PS4 Games, Videos and 4K TV
If you're planning to snag a PlayStation 4 Pro or 4K TV from the Back Friday 2017 Sales today, Sony shared some additional details since their initial PS4 Pro Ultimate FAQ including some top game and video picks! :D

Without further ado, here's the deets straight from Sony Social Media Director Sid Shuman, to quote:

First, a quick overview on 4K and HDR. 4K content (games or video programming) displayed on a 4K TV will result in a clearer and more detailed image, giving you four times the pixels you see in full HD content.

This greatly enhances the experience in games like Gran Turismo Sport, giving you a stunning view from the driver’s seat as the impressive visuals of the track environment race by. I often describe the feeling of watching 4K as “looking through a window” into the world shown on screen.

HDR is another recent display technology that can bring striking benefits, generally in the form of more vivid, dynamic colors, deeper blacks, and brilliant highlights when watched on a compatible TV. You’ll notice how HDR enhances the colors in Horizon Zero Dawn’s lush and vibrant environment, bringing Guerrilla’s vision to life in vivid detail.

Ideally, you’ll have 4K and HDR working together, which is showcased beautifully in the dynamic weather and lighting effects of Days Gone using dynamic 4K and HDR. More games will start to support both 4K and HDR as developers spend more time on PS4 Pro. Even more ideally, you’ll be watching all this content on an OLED-based TV... but that’s a topic for another post.

All these enhancements add up to a superior gaming or viewing experience. Read on to see our top picks for the new PS4 Pro and 4K TV owner.

Getting the best 4K out of your PS4 Pro
  • HDMI: If you’re the kind who moves your PlayStation between rooms or homes regularly, make sure that the pack-in Premium High Speed HDMI Cable makes the trip too, as it’s the key to getting 4K resolution out of your Pro-4K TV pairing. PS3Xploit 4.82 CFW on OFW, NOR / NAND Flash Writer & NOR Dumper
Following their PS3 IDPS Dumper v0.2.3 for 4.82 OFW update, the PS3Xploit Team of @bguerville, @esc0rtd3w, @smhabib and W released both a PlayStation 3 NOR / NAND Software Flash Writer and NOR Dumper to downgrade consoles without the need of a hardware flasher allowing those on Official Firmware (OFW) 4.82 to install Custom Firmware (CFW) finally. :lovexf2:

Download: NOR_dumper_release_1.0_PS3Xploit.zip (106 KB) / NOR_NAND_writer_release_1.0_PS3Xploit.zip (3 MB)

To quote from STLcardsWS on the releases: Since this exploit is executed from 4.82 OFW, you can only install to a 4.82 CFW, HOWEVER if you wish to use an earlier firmware such as REBUG 4.81 for example, once on 4.82 CFW you must TOGGLE QA using a toggle tool, which allows CFW user's to freely switch CFW version from past and present.
