PS4 Jailbreaking

If you're in the United States, today (Tuesday, November 8th) is the US Presidential Election 2016 where either Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton or Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump will become the next President of the United States.

Not following politics much myself, I can't help but think of this video fitting perfectly for this year's Presidential candidates:

Anyhoo, it got me thinking that with all the voting going on today combined with the PS4 4.01 Jailbreak from ChaitinTech and both the EPEEN and TRSi scene group PS4 NFO updates it's the perfect day to run a poll here and see what everyone thinks of a for-profit PlayStation 4 dongle.

Since the PlayStation 3 Re-DRM TrueBlue dongle days many sceners including myself and @GregoryRasputin most memorably have been fairly vocal on being against DRM-infected dongles and those who peddle them, and now whispers from various dongle camps leave me wondering whether the crusade should continue with PS4 dongles or should we throw in the towel on the fight against them?

If you've never heard of a dongle before, in this context we're referring to a small hardware device that you would have to buy from an online shop which would plug into the PlayStation 4's USB port (or somewhere similar) and allow you to run commercial PS4 game backups and homebrew (unsigned code) in theory.

Following their ROP Tool, some new video footage of the Chinese hackers from Chaitin Tech surfaced today via GeekPwn featuring PlayStation 3 hacker GeoHot (George Hotz) discussing their recent PS4 4.01 Jailbreak!

They may be the first Chinese Security Team jailbroke PS4. GeoHot had a conversation with them, let's see what did he say?

Recently we saw a guide on Unbanning Console IDs and caught word that the PSProxy PS4 Update Bypass from @RedEyeX32 was working again as a result of the Passphrase Changing.

Today PlayStation 4 developer RedEyeX32 Tweeted that a new update is on the way for those still experiencing issues on bypassing Sony's PS4 Firmware updates and connecting to PlayStation Network.

Today PlayStation 4 developer MrNiato returns following his Debug Settings Comparison and recent news of a Minecraft PlayStation 4 Edition game backup running on a PS4 DevKit with a comparison of Retail and non-Retail PlayStation 4 consoles.

For those following, he also notes this may be his last update for awhile due to classes starting this Thursday.

Ding Dong: Trick or Treat? I can't believe it's been a year since our last Halloween here, and The Great Pumpkin (aka zecoxao) has risen again with some PS4 ROP (Return-Oriented-Programming) SPRX ELF files for Firmware versions 200, 250, 300, 315, 350 and 355 to help PlayStation 4 developers.

This news comes just a few days since the release of Chaitin Tech's ROP Tool, the PS4 Decrypting and Dumping UserModules Guide and the PS4 DevKit Game Backup Demo video.

I don't know about you, but I'm starting to sense the mystery of PS4 Decryption is slowing making its rounds from Überl33t private developers to plain 'ol l33t (and more public) PlayStation 4 homebrew devs.
