Here is a quick guide I made for bundling PS4 game updates into PKGs. PKG Kitchen 1.3 is used and all thanks to the toolmakers...

Game Update PKG

Needed: PKG Kitchen 1.3, Offline Update PKG ≤4.05

1:
Insert game disc and install
2: Exploit idc, xvortex ftp payload
3: Dump 4 files from system_data/priv/appmeta/CUSAxxxxx/* to dump\appmeta\ (Must get these files before update)
4: Exit title/ftp, reboot, exploit xvortex, install sony game update pkg (This will be the hardest step, obtaining offline 4.05 updates)
5: Check for update to game on information screen
6: Reboot, exploit idc, xvortex ftp payload, minimize, load game, connect ftp
7: Dump /user/app/CUSAxxxxx/app.pkg -> dump\pkg
/mnt/sandbox/pfsmnt/CUSAxxxxx-app0-nest/pfs_image.dat -> dump\pfs\
/mnt/sandbox/pfsmnt/CUSAxxxxx-app0/sce_module/* -> dump\app\sce_module\
/mnt/sandbox/pfsmnt/CUSAxxxxx-patch0-nest/pfs_image.dat, RENAME pfs_image2.dat -> dump\pfs\
/mnt/sandbox/pfsmnt/CUSAxxxxx-patch0/eboot.bin -> dump\app\
/mnt/sandbox/pfsmnt/CUSAxxxxx-patch0/sce_module/* -> dump\app\sce_module\ (Overwrite if prompted, update may not contain this folder and/or all files)
8: Reboot, remove disc, and delete game and all game data
9: Run _extract_pkg.bat and wait for success
10: Open /tools ArchiveExplorer.exe and open dump\pfs\pfs_image.dat and extract all to \app\
11: Open dump\pfs\pfs_image2.dat and extract all and overwrite to \app\
12: Copy and overwrite dump\app\* to \app\
13: Copy and overwrite dump\appmeta\* to \app\sce_sys\
14: Run _gen_gp4.bat and wait for success
15: Open CUSAxxxxx.gp4 with /tools/orbis-pub-gen.exe and go to Command, Build Image, select save location and build.
16: Turn on PS4, load xvortex exploit, install new PKG with bundled update.

Thank you for your tutorial Lush,

Correct me if I'm wrong, but by looking at your tutorial (as I haven't done it myself yet), it looks as if that you can have a version 1.00 fpkg already installed, and then copy the required patch files directly over to the relevant game folders via ftp, overwriting any files when prompted?

If this is so, one could then create a rar/zip of all the patch files, with instructions as to where those files need to be ftp'ed into, rather than having to repack and reupload the full game plus update again - which I think is a better solution going forward, if its possible, as uploaders can up the original 1.00 fpkg and then a separate rar/zip of the update, rather then having to upload the full game twice (one with the update and one without).

Hi All,

For those that have been uploading game fixes for dumps that were having issues (bugs or stuck on loading), you don't need to re-upload the whole game again. You could provide a smaller download for those that have already downloaded the previous version, as an alternative solution. (For those with low bandwidth)

All you need to do is to unpack the good pkg, and replace every file except for the game data.

I did this test with Gravity Rush 1, I unpacked both versions, kept the game data from the bad version, replaced everything and repacked the game. (eboot.bin, sce_sys & sce_modules folders, play-go files etc...)

Tested the game and it doesn't bug on Episode 5.

I am not home, but I can upload the Gravity Rush 1 fix files for reference tonight.

just to clarify, you just need to provide all files except for the game data.

instead of uploading a massive 20-40gb, while you could just upload a 20mb zipped file.

Good to see if someone helps me I can not install the PKG of the update of the game I skipped error 6441-8 would someone tell me why?

Let's say I get a fake PKG from a game (v1.00).

Can this "fake game PKG" be updated (with "fake update PKG") by anyone who builds it?

Or has to be done by the same user that built the "fake game PKG"?

I'm a bit confused about this. Thanks.

No, fpkg updates are not universal, you can only update an fpkg game with an fpkg update that was built specifically for this fpkg game. If an fpkg update was not built for the fpkg game that you have, you have to repack it to work on your fpkg game.

Thanks for the help @mschumacher69

It's a shame that this useful posts (the one you link) get lost inside "common" threads.

I've decided that from now on I'll choose base games + updates rather than games with merged updates.
