I will post this as a separate thread from the PS4 PKG2USB as the 2 payloads vary and it saves confusion.

Original Post: I was playing around with the ext0 mount and recreating the file structure that would be there if the pkg was installed to external storage.

There is a trick I found where if you copy the CUSAXXXXX folder from /user/app to /mnt/ext0/user/app and then unplug the hdd and plug it back in it causes the ps4 to do a repair and then the game is recognized as installed on external storage and from there there are other issues.

BUT with the great work SiSTRo has done in PKG2USB with the symlinks its a lot easier to manage with exfat and just normal USB.

So building on his PKG2USB and symlinks I modified what I was working on for the ext0 mount to work with the usb0 or usb1 and symlinks.

This payload searches the entire /user/app folder and copies all installed fpkg games to usb from the system drive and creates the symlinks like SiSTRo has kindly shown us the ability to do.

If you want to target a single game not the whole folder use PKG2USB.

If you install more games just run the payload again and it will copy any new games to the USB and so on.

With symlinks you are making a link to a directory so you want to pick which USB port to have the hdd on and keep it on that same port or the links will point to the wrong directory. USB0 is what I use.

Hi everyone, I'm just wondering as a new be whose PS4 is on 2.15 and I want to upgrade to the latest jailbroken firmware which is 4.55 and run my backups, whether the URLs below are the best or most updated way of doing this, or if anyone has any additional tips or suggestions.

My assumption is as the 1st URL below indicates I have to host my own WebKit exploit page or are there any existing ones I just use and once I have that going
is everything else covered in the tutorials in the 2 URLs below?

@psik

Your best bet is to follow this guide also from Modded Warfare, it tells you everything and gives all the links, possibly the best Youtuber/dev for info atm by far.

Just use the server DNS IP method as shown,you can host your own server later on but this is the best for someone new to the scene,for External USB stuff this is the right thread to be in.;)

@stooged normally when I use Apps2Usb I have to delete the packages that have just been installed from root of HDD but when using V14 the packages were already gone. Is that normal for V14 ?

I always create cusaxxxx folder in ps4 folder before running Apps2Usb and rename the pkg to app

@JakeyWineBottle

If you uncomment CHECK_USB in the ini file it will make the payload look in the root of the usb drive for the pkg file and you dont need to make the cusa folder or make the app.pkg etc.

If you want to make the cusa folder and manually make the app.pkg and not have the payload check the root of the usb for the pkg leave //CHECK_USB commented.

@stooged I have renamed all of my base game and update fpkgs with custom titles to retain important information (CUSA, version, etc.). Is there any way to use these original filenames when renaming "app.pkg" and "patch.pkg" files on the external HDD?

I appreciate the fact that you incorporated a naming scheme, but from what I can tell, I lose the version of the games. If a new kernel exploit is released for higher firmware, we will definitely see new updates. I need to retain this info.

@DawgY

If you press select on the game on the ps4 and press update history it should tell you (in most cases) what version your on. Even if the pkg is a combined update and shows V1.0 in the game information

@Puppydogpals I'm glad there is this option, but I'd prefer to reference the version numbers on my computer instead of having to cross-reference files with the PS4.

I have copies of everything on another drive, so I still have all of the information. It would just make everything easier if I could rename using the original fpkg names. If this is not possible, no worries. Thanks!
