How To Install PS-Phwoar! On Your PS4:

There are several methods to install the menu to your PS4. You can install the menu from a USB drive, from a PC, from an ESP board or from an Android device.

Install From USB:

First copy the 'PS-Phwoar.USB' file to the root of a USB drive and plug it into your PS4.

Using your existing exploit menu, use BinLoader to load the 'PS_Phwoar_Installer.bin' file on your PS4.

The PS-Phwoar! Host Menu will now be installed to your PS4 Browser and to the UserGuide.

Alternatively if you have internet access on your PS4 you can go to: leeful.github.io/usb to install the PS-Phwoar! Host Menu from your USB drive.

Install From A PC:

If you want to load the menu in the PS4's Browser use the 'Server For PS4 Browser.exe' and follow the instructions it tells you.

If you want to load the menu in the PS4's UserGuide use the 'Server For PS4 UserGuide.exe' and follow the instructions it tells you.

Whichever server you use, once the PS-Phwoar! Host Menu has finished installing on your PS4 you can close the server and the Host menu will then always load from your PS4's internal cache.

Before you install PS-Phwoar! on your PS4 it is advised to first clear your browser settings so that it does not interfere with any previous Host menus you have used.

To do this open the Browser app and press the options button then select: Settings > Delete Cookies > Clear Website Data.

Install From An ESP Device:

Flash the PS-Phwoar!_v1.0_ESP.bin file to your ESP8266 device using NodeMCU PyFlasher v4.0 found here:
https://github.com/marcelstoer/nodemcu-pyflasher/releases

The WiFi settings for the ESP are:
  • WiFi-SSID:PS4 ESP HOST
  • PASSWORD:12345678
Use either the PS4 User Guide or the PS4 Web Browser URL at: http://esp.com/index.html

HOW TO SET UP ESP

On the PS4 go to:
  • Settings > Network > Set Up Internet Connection > Use Wi-Fi > Custom
  • Select 'PS4 ESP HOST' from the list and use the password '12345678'
  • IP Address Settings > Automatic
  • DHCP Host Name > Do Not specify
  • DNS Settings > Automatic
  • MTU Settings > Automatic
  • Proxy Server > Do Not Use
Test Internet Connection:
  • Obtain IP Address : Successful
  • Internet Connection : Failed
This is perfectly normal because you are offline when using the ESP. Press the PS button to go back to the PS4 Home Screen.

Install From An Android Device:

If you have installed xPloitServer on your phone before you must uninstall it first and also delete the xPloitServer folder from your phones storage.

1. Make sure that your PS4 and phone are connected to the same network.

2. Install and run the xPloitServer app on your phone.

3. When the app has loaded press the 'Start Server' button and enter the exact address it tells you in your PS4 browser.
e.g. http://192.168.0.14:8080/index.html

4. The PS-Phwoar! Host Menu will now install on your PS4. Once it has finished installing you can close the server on your phone and from now on PS-Phwoar! will automatically load from your PS4's internal offline cache.

If you are having trouble installing the server on your phone, make sure you have allowed installing apk's from unknown sources and that you temporally disable google play protect on your phone.

Credit to @stooged for the original version of his xPloitServer.

Cheers to @DEFAULTDNB on Twitter for the heads-up earlier today! 🍻

ok, I have braved the outdoors for some essentials. blah.... anyways I have trired

Load phwoar 1.3 with latest hen, 2.1.2, 2, & 1.8 all with the same result. with ps4-xplorer 1.17 as well as 1.18.

Next I will have to try and re setup with x-project last (not latest) version as I am sure that is what I had at the last time I used ps4-xplorer 1.17 (I think) and worked.

Any other ideas I may check out, the hard shutdown makes this process long as I have to check system and repair external HDD each time.

@Neverl81 No idea what the problem could be. It all works fine here. Try this:

Load Hen 2.1.3 then try and load a game, If that works ok close the game then try to load ps4-xplorer and see if it still causes a crash.

Just had a thought. Is ps4-explorer installed on your external HDD? If it is, that might be the problem.

Just been doing some tests with extended storage and that that is not the problem. It works fine for me if ps4-explorer is installed on the internal or external extended storage USB.

It was just an idea so I had to try it out.

Thanks for your help,

I have also come to the conclusion that it may be related by my extended HDD, and that maybe my HDD is the issue as I have now had a chance to test on a second ps4 and the extended HDD is the different other than a regular ps4 (not working with its own external HDD) vs a ps4 pro (the one working).

I have tried ps4-xplorer both internal HDD as well as external, it crashed same way, maybe its something bad with this regular ps4 vs the ps4 pro I tested the same files against and worked. yet games/apps will load proper on both internal vs external as expected.

I hope that made sense, thanks again for spending some time on this with me. I'll continue testing as time permits and if I can narrow anything down I'll add to this in case it helps others.

@Leeful @lotus78
In the new html version, "var payload" is that : var payload=[144105,3224455168,264931657,...
bin2html.exe give me this one : var payload=[var payload=[0x000232E9,0xC0314800,0x0FCA8949,...
First is the original Hen 2.1.3 html and the second is the bin converted in html.
Are you sure this will work without a problem?

@Chronoss09 One is in decimal the other is in hex. It doesnt matter, they both work the same in the end. The only advantage of the decimal version is a smaller filesize.

If you prefer it in decimal you can use bin2js to get the 'var payload = [.........];' from the bins in decimal format.

Issue: ps4-xplorer would crash my ps4
Solution: delete the ps4-explorer save file re-run ps4-explorer & all works fine now.

@Leeful I finally figured out my file explorer issue, in case this helps someone else as I didn't know that it creates a save file and I had originally installed old version ps4-explorer on internal HDD, then deleted the app and installed new 1.18 onto external HDD. then app would crash the system. The fix was to delete the save file created & that's all, now app loads as expected. :)

Thanks again @Leeful for your time on this with me even though it had nothing to do with ps-phwoar. I have not heard anyone else having this issue but if they do this is the fix. I will post this to @Lapy in the ps4-explorer thread in case it helps there as well or can be fixed via a check within the app for future updates.

Cheers!
