Previously we reported on a Kodi / XBMC Media Center Skin PS4 Theme and a PS2 Legacy Dashboard Dynamic PS4 Theme, well today following the PS4HEN Homebrew Enabler release a variety PS4 Custom BGM (background music), Wallpaper and Animated Themes in the form of PKG files for PlayStation 4 v4.05 have surfaced from PlayStation 4 developers, modders and PS4 *** leak miners alike! :geek:

Most notably thus far, @yyoossk (Twitter) shared a PS4 custom theme sample PKG and demo video (below) on his YouTube Channel where he states in the video's description that a tutorial will be coming soon on his blog at Yyoossk.BlogSpot.jp. <3

Other developers including @0x199 (Twitter) and @LightningMods (Twitter) also shared some Custom PS4 Themes for 4.05 OFW which can be found with their related Tweets below along with a bunch more on the PSDevWiki. :ninja:

I've been researching the background wave on PS4 and if it's possible to change the wave colors, like what we had on PS3. PS4 uses a .fbxd format, which is probably a custom 3D .fbx format. This file isn't signed by the PS4 itself so changes to this file will stick after reboot.
Unfortunately I haven't gotten far with my research, so I'm sharing the files here for others to reverse engineer, and hopefully we'll see some cool stuff like PS3 in the future. The eboot is from NPXS20001 which loads these .fbxd files.

@Shurikan117 couple quick questions for you:

1/ when selecting an mp3 to convert for BGM for your theme. On the BMK AT9 AT3 Converter v2.3 are you saying to convert to a .wav first and then take the .wav and try to convert that to the at9? (if so what program did you use to convert mp3 to wav?

2/ during the conversion it asks the Bit Rate - what bitrate has to be used so that the .at9 will work on the ps4?

3/ image sizes for the theme. the main "game icons" are all 512 by 512.
A/ but what about the actual background image?
B/ The "whats new" icon (as it is bigger then the others??)
C/ the tiny images across the top? ( are they all 512 by 512 images that need to be used?) and lastly....
D/ about the transparency ...can you explain those? ( like for web browser i think there is two files? a .png and a transparency file too??

thanks

@Shurikan117 opps ...and also the length of the sound clip....how long can it be?

@stripnwild

1 and 2/ open mp3 with audacity and then export it as wav.
Open BMK AT9 AT3 Converter v2.2 (2.3 cant be found lol) and drag wav file in, set bitrate to max and convert. Using BMK to convert the mp3 didnt work for me.

3/ dont change the stock image sizes. So content icons are 512x512, function icons are 128x128, and background is 1920x1080. I recommend Gimp 2 for editing them.

A/ in 'texture\background' - homescreen is 1920x1080 and the one you see normally, functionscreen (also same size) is the one you see when you go 'up' on your controller.

B/ the 'whats new' icon cannot be edited, to my knowledge

C/ Tiny images on top are the function icons from 'texture\function_icon'. They are 128x128.

D/ In Gimp (it's what i use and recommend) you can create a new file or edit one with either a 'solid' background or a 'transparent' background. Once you add in what you want, dont save, export it as a png.

E/ Blog in OP mentions the max duration to be 120secs or 4mins max.

I included my raw files in my persona 5 theme above for reference. Also please take a look at yyoossk's blog. It mentions how to create the at9 files, and edit icons in more detail (it's in english too!),

@stripnwild oh yeah, there was a size limit too, sorry. yyoossk says the size can be 15 MB (MiB ?).

Also, gifs or animated backgrounds haven't been tested to my knowledge. The format of the background should be png. Anything else may or may not work. We cant say for sure yet.

@Shurikan117 I'm trying to build the FPKG, but the process finishes with these errors:

1) [Error] Format of the param file is not valid. (sce_sys/param.sfo, unexpected Category)
2) [Error] Format of the param file is not valid. (sce_sys/param.sfo, unexpected Category/IRO_TAG)
3) [Error] Format of the param file is not valid. (sce_sys/param.sfo, unexpected Application Version (APP_VER))

My param.sfo has the following settings:
1) Category: (PS4) System Software Theme
2) IRO_TAG Value: 2 (How can I modify it?)
3) I can't define an APP_VER value. The field is disabled.

Plz, could you tell me how could I fix it?
Thank you!

@Docta to build the fpkg go to 'orbis-pub-gen' --> click 'File' --> click 'New Project' --> click 'System Software Theme Package'.

Now you can go to 'Command' and change 'Project Settings' like usual and add files to 'image0'

Also try not to modify the default param.sfo too much. If you really want to modify it (like change the name and stuff), use 'orbis-pub-sfo' to change, add or delete the values you want and save it.
