It's been a few months since the last PlayStation 4 security update, but today following the 6.00 PS4 Beta for testers Sony returns with PS4 System Software / Firmware 5.56 now live which, once again, according to their changelog improves system performance.

So, is there a written explanation as to why we don't have firmware 'emulation' for games that require a firmware check like on the 3ds?

most probably we could see new hacks on ps4 only if someone from behide starts to sell DRM hardware (enabling 5.05+ backups) to profit from open source.. something like True Blue was on ps3 back in the day and when cfw 4.21 was announced along side drm dongle then the keys were released only because of that.. if that didin't happen we most probably never could have cfw 3.55+ (thanks to 3 musketeers)

@DEFAULTDNB so we need to wait that someone find a way to get keys from new firmwares and dump games and sign them with new keys ? Maby this should works ? if i remember hacker VIPKHUR show that this is possible to get the keys?

@FrogDR how do you get higher keys? Answer KEX + ask SAMU on FW you need keys for.

Imho kex > keys.

If you got one, you don’t need the other. We don’t even have 5.05 keys.

@Scumdog its not just “fw check” it’s *** modules and keys. Notice how Nintendo 3ds consoles have emunand/rednand? Hardly any Sony or MS.

@tarandino when they say “private” it’s not like even a group of people has it, it’s probably one maybe 2 individuals.

@tarandino, its a good thing they keep this stuff from publishing. I would hate to see all those pain in the butt kids screwing up PSN users again with their game mods like what happened on the PS3. I have had tons of customers in the days who got sick of being terrorized in gta and finally got their ps3 hacked also. Not for fun obviously.
