Following their PS4 6.72 OFW Update and several PlayStation 4 Beta Updates, as expected this week Sony is officially releasing the PS4 Firmware / System Software 7.00 Update which among other lackluster features such as Party and Remote Play enhancements will likely 'improve system performance' by including even more security fixes. 🥳🎉

:alert: As always DON'T UPDATE if you wish to use PS4 game backups and homebrew apps when a new jailbreak exploit arrives, with some guides available for those new on How to Block PS4 Firmware Updates, How to Delete Downloaded PS4 Update PUPs that haven't been installed yet, How to Update to a Specific PS4 Firmware and also some PS4 HEN Update Blocker Payloads.

 If you haven't done so already, be sure to get Verified so that you can access the private or restricted areas for the latest FPKGs that are added as they become available. 🏴‍☠️

Here's further details straight from Sony Content Communications Senior Director Sid Shuman, to quote:

Our latest software update for PlayStation 4, version 7.00, is launching this week worldwide. This update includes new functionality to key system features including Party and Remote Play features.

We revealed a number of features included in the newly enhanced Party prior to its beta earlier this summer, and here are all of the details that PS4 players can look forward to experiencing.

Party Feature Update

For PS4 fans who love to play alongside their friends or other community members, the Party feature has been rebuilt to include new features and services including:
  • Maximum number of Party users increased from 8 to 16
  • Network connectivity improved
  • Audio quality improved
  • Accessibility support with Chat Transcription has been added (US Only)
Within the Party feature, you will experience better network connectivity and audio quality. The improved back-end now improves network connectivity and allows users to overcome connectivity issues previously experienced when connecting with other users.

Lastly, the Party App will also offer a new Chat Transcription feature for US users via the PS4 Second Screen App on your smartphone or other mobile devices. The new feature supports US English and converts party voice chat to text, or enables you to enter text that is read aloud to other party members. If using your mobile device to connect to your PS4 during a Party, you will now see a new Party tab has been added where the new functionality is available.

Remote Play

For those who want to stream select PS4 games on mobile devices, Remote Play can now be used on smartphones and tablets running Android 5.0 or higher. Just download the PS4 Remote Play App from the Google Play store to use the feature.

Meanwhile, for iPhone or iPad users, the Remote Play App has been updated so you can now display the controller at all times and lock the screen orientation.

Also, players will be able to use their DualShock 4 wireless controllers via Bluetooth for Remote Play on an Android, iPhone, iPad, and Mac. All you need to do is update to Android 10, iOS 13, iPadOS 13, or macOS Catalina (releasing in October) to use this feature.

As a reminder, a PS4 system with a wired connection via a LAN cable is recommended.

@Viggen66sell that crappy box, buy a ps3 and play like a real man

lmao, imagine waiting 3 years with a brand new console, 2 hours active use

when the exploit finally goes public, next thing you know, you fire up your dusty ps4 and it suddenly dies of some crappy close to DOA electrical fault or eventually from a cockroach nest bug lol

extended warranty? no problem! they'll make sure in the service you're updated to the latest non exploitable fw

Greetings. I'm a new user on this website.

Anyway, I may be lucky because I'm still using the ofw v6.72, but I'm suffering a serious problem on trying to install a reliable custom firmware.

I went to EVERY website to search the real v6.72 cfw so I can play ps2 classics and try to boot exe files, but all of them are blocked with unavoidable surveys, passwords, and sometimes scam websites.
I'm so tired on doing this big research, so I need your help.

P.S. I would be glad to install a 100% reliable custom firmware of the PS4, which is undated to the latest version.

Of course, no surveys and no passwords would be the perfect solution

@555913333312000 you are basically screwed. There is no exploit above fw 5.05. Any place telling you there is wrong and you are potentially downloading bad firmware etc that could brick the console. be careful what you install on your ps4.

There won't be one until the end of the ps4 era (ie ps5 comes out). IF it even does come out.

Why : Because if they release exploits they have been doing thus far sony would discover the one way that it is being done. So the Devs have kept it under the table. So that when there is no more firmwares being pushed out then they can release whatever current fw they have and apply the exploit to it.

@555913333312000 unsure if you are trolling? but no cfw currently exists for the ps4. only an exploit on 5.05 is all we have... and you can't play any games above that fw... that's the only legit hacks there are right now...

If nothing happened for two years, then you can't count on a miracle ...
Sony bought whoever it was needed and the SCENE DIED.
I'm just waiting for tlou2 and selling 4, there is no point in keeping it.
Sit down calmly and accept the update.
It's over...
