Hello World! I've been reporting on Sony PlayStation hacking news since 2000 and started PSXHAX in 2014 to cover PlayStation (PSX), PlayStation 2 (PS2), PlayStation 3 (PS3), PlayStation 4 (PS4), PlayStation Portable (PSP), PlayStation Vita (PS Vita), PlayStation TV (PS TV) and next-gen PlayStation 5 (PS5) platforms along with anything else of interest.

This version uses the modded PS4 4.55 XML files from @HydrogenNGU, and to quote from Cali: How to set up PSProxy to bypass 4.70
Down below I've written a tutorial on how to bypass the newest update and still play online, I have tested this and this is working if your console was in the previous version 4.55 and should also work on every other firmware below since this program was originally made for 3.50.
First go ahead and download PSProxy and the 4.55 XML file and now install PSProxy. Go ahead and go to (C:Local Disk/Program Files(x86)/PSProxy) and drag and drop the "ps4-updatelist" XML into the PSProxy directory.
You will also see the "ps4-updatelist" folder but you'll notice there isn't a 4.55 located inside so go ahead and make the following folder directories and then drag it into the "ps4-updatelist" folder. First create a folder named "4.55" and inside that go ahead and make a folder called...
Yesterday Sony released PS4 Firmware 4.70, and today PlayStation 4 developer qwertyoruiopz confirmed that Sony removed the primitive used to exploit his bug with bombob explaining this means Sony patched the way to access the bug, but the exploit is still present so those on OFW 4.55 continue to have an entry point.
That is great news for PlayStation 4 developers including @theorywrong who tweeted reminding everyone it's ultimately qwertyoruiopz's decision whether to release it or wait, but noted that if it was released PS4 Devs could begin work on jailbreak-related projects.
So how did Sony patch the primitive if the exploit has yet to be released? Both qwertyoruiopz and flat_z shed some light on this with a transcript from Twitter as follows:
qwertyoruiop: lol great sony removed the primitive I used to exploit my bug
qwertyoruiop: my bet? i accidentally let some crash logs go early on. sucks because it was a good exploit primitive, but it's cool since my bug is OK
qwertyoruiop: I keep mine off the network now. Not initially however
Kazoo Kid: they haven't a primitive is dead, but the exploit itself is ok
Chara~Chan~~: Let the library expanding While we have bug we'll have more games in time. More late more better
qwertyoruiop: that's the strategy
TheoryWrong: It is not for us to choose, but if I can give my opinion, many developer could start things with a jailbreak
Newgunnerr: So will this mean a release from you?
Thibobo: His bug is OK so probably Not
Reminon: Lol why would he burn the whole exploit over a part of it being fixed?
And some words of wisdom from flat_z on preventing this from happening again:

To quote from 2much4u on NGU: Note: The following is only for 1.76 PS4's, and because of that, is not able to be used online.
It has been tested and confirmed working on both the US and EU game regions. It is currently unknown if it will work on the JP region. It will only work on version 1.00 of Far Cry 4, which means there are no updates or dlc.
This was an interesting and fun experiment to try working on a different game than GTA V. Far Cry 4 is also a game that very little has been done for (modding wise) which makes the challenge all the more exciting. As I have previously stated, FC4 has a native system similar to GTA's.
However, it is not nearly in-depth and from my attempts to hook a few natives, I realized it may be left-over debug code. The natives related to drawing are all just empty functions and I was unable to get raw button input, which makes the menu base rather interesting.
It uses the mission objective box for drawing text so the menu base has to combine all the options, title, scroller, and credits to a single string. Without raw button input I was able to use the angle of the player's camera and the player's melee to control it. Because of this, the menu cannot be used in vehicles, safe zones, and other situations in which camera and weapon usage is limited.
I left print coordinates in there so people could request teleport locations that I may get around to adding someday. I'm looking forward to researching other mostly untouched games in the future and would recommend other developers wanting to test their skills do so as well.
It is not the most stable mod ever, so try not to get mad if the game crashes in the middle of a mission
