Chaitin Tech 4.01 PS4 Jailbreak Exploit Entry Point Dev Research
With confirmation that the PS4 4.01 Ksploit has been reported to Sony and likely to be patched, PlayStation 4 developers have been researching the Chaitin Tech 4.01 PS4 jailbreak exploit's entry point in hopes to bring Linux to Firmware 3.50 through 4.01 among other scene advancements.

@Jeff and @B7U3 C50SS started a collaborative research post HERE, and since then @SpecterDev shared his thoughts thus far on his latest PS4 Development Blog article.

Check it out linked above, and to quote in part: "CVE-2016-1885 is not applicable to the PS4, Sony removed set_ldt after 1.76. Thanks to Red-EyeX32 for pointing this out."

PlayStation 4 developer @theorywrong tweeted the following SVN Commit r307941 via his Twitter which according to @Akaike may be the email with the Chaitin exploit and how to fix it while @mcmrc1 posted HERE he might have stumbled upon the GIT.

According to @Akaike in the Shoutbox the Chaitin Tech Lab exploit was intended to execute code via PS4 kernel mode in conjunction...
PSProxy PS4 Update Bypass by Red-EyeX32 Works, Passphrase Changed
If you're trying to get online with a PlayStation 4 console and don't want to update to Sony's latest PS4 Firmware 4.05 in hopes that the 4.01 Kernel Exploit will surface, then be sure to check out PSProxy with the latest version being PSProxy.rar (v4.0.0.0) from @RedEyeX32! :happyblush

Yeah, yeah... we know it wasn't working for a few weeks now, but since Sony updated their PS4 Firmware to version 4.05 it appears the passphrase changed and low and behold reports of users on 4.01 Firmware confirm it's now working again and they can connect to PSN without updating to v4.05! :lovewins:

Here are some related Tweets from the developer RedEyeX32:
Cheers to @mcmrc1 for the shout out in the PSXHAX Shoutbox and GAME ON PlayStation sceners!! :D
PS4 Firmware 4.01 Jailbreak by Chaitin Tech Full Demo Video
Following yesterday's PS4 4.01 Ksploit Demo and Sony's PS4 Firmware 4.05 security update, today Chaitin Tech of Chaitin.cn released a full version of their PS4 4.01 Jailbreak demonstrated at GeekPwn 2016... and confirmed due to contest rules they have reported the exploit used to Sony. :confounded:

Needless to say, some PlayStation 4 developers including Rebug's @evilsperm are a little disappointed at this decision but in light of it as Wololo suggests if PS4 scene hacking groups have been using the same kernel exploit behind-the-scene they may now be willing to consider sharing them publicly. ;-)

PS4 CFW 4.01 Rebug.png:idea: Below are some hopeful innovations to come for PlayStation 4 sceners, including hints of a PS4 Rebug Custom Firmware (CFW) and multiMAN 4 (MM4) backup game manager... although at this time they just appear to be concept art and ideas so don't get too excited yet.

 Stay tuned as we'll be doing a few follow-up articles on this covering details of the PS4 4.01 exploit believed to be used, and THANKS to @Fimo HERE and @GrimDoe in the Shoutbox for the full Chaitin Technology Co., Ltd. PS4 FW 4.01 jailbreak video...
PS4 4.01 Linux Installation / Ksploit Demo at GeekPwn 2016
Today at the GeekPwn 2016 Carnival in Shanghai Station the Pavilion Safety Research Lab shared a PS4 4.01 Linux installation / Ksploit demonstration exploit video via Chinese site Changting Technology Security Lab! :D

In the video they navigate their PS4 Web browser to http://chaitin.cn/ps4 which currently just shows their video instead of their 'Sony PlayStation4 Jailbreak' so hopefully more details on this PS4 jailbreak method will follow soon! :ninja:

Check it out below with some related Tweets from Joonie86, who also notes they played Mario using an NES emulator as follows:

Thanks to @mcmrc1 for sharing the news in the PSXHAX Shoutbox!
