Proceeding his SMAP Bypass PS5 Vulnerability disclosed last year, security researcher m00nbsd announced via Twitter today the disclosure of a PlayStation 5 Remote Kernel Heap Overflow Vulnerability on PlayStation Bug Bounty site HackerOne.com which affects PlayStation 5 consoles up to 4.03 PS5 Firmware alongside PlayStation 4 consoles through 9.00 PS4 Firmware.

While this latest PlayStation H1 disclosure has already been patched by Sony in both PS5 4.50 Firmware and PS4 9.03 Firmware, since the 9.00 PS4 Jailbreak Exploit release developer @SpecterDev on Twitter reminds the PS4Scene that:

"PPPoE bug patch in PS4. As can be seen, patched in 9.03 on the right. Probably not worth attempting to exploit this on PS4 as it won't move firmware forward. Also probably would end up less stable than exFAT exploit because mbuf zone corruption kinda sucks."

While Sony stopped updates to their PlayStation Portable and PSPgo handheld console XML Updaters back in 2014, in PlayStation Vita News following the previous PS Vita OFW revision and PS3 4.89 Firmware Update earlier today a PS Vita System Software / Firmware 3.74 Update was also pushed live.

Needless to say, it's advisable NOT to update as many in the PlayStation Vita Scene got a PS Vita or PlayStation TV to do fun stuff like jailbreaking, running exploits and homebrew on the handheld console.

Earlier this month we saw PS Home Online 1.86 Running on PS3 4.88 OFW courtesy of PS3 Scene developer @NagatoRevenge at DestinationHo.me, who let us know in PlayStation 3 News today on Twitter that Sony pushed live a PS3 Firmware / System Software 4.89 Update for their entertainment system initially released back in 2006.

As always, it's NEVER a wise idea to update PlayStation Firmware in order to make use of such things as PS3 Custom Firmware (CFW), downgrading, homebrew, Webkit exploits, etc.
