Following his DarkNet 4.81 CEX V1.00 CFW, today PlayStation 3 developer @darkjiros updated the CFW to DarkNet 4.81 CEX v1.00 COBRA 7.3 PS3 Custom Firmware complete with source code and the changes detailed below. :ninja:

I would say yes as long as you update via USB and not from the Internet, but as I haven't had a PS3 in over 4 years perhaps @misiozol can confirm that enabling QAFlag or any other funky steps aren't necessary these days. :geek:

i have a couple of questions that i'm eager to have an answer too. So here we go...
1. What is the best mod for a PS3 Fat CECHE01 to play PS1/PS2/PS3 backups from HDD?
2. Did some research and COBRA ODE 5.30A looks promising, But can't find one online. does anyone know who is selling them?
3. Is there a alternative for COBRA ODE ?

I am Kind of new here too, but I think I can give you some directions.
sorry for my bad english... :D

Assuming that you have a jailbroken ps3, I recommend you to use the Latest FERROX or DARKNET Custom Firmware (Yes, this one from the post), because it already has the COBRA ODE Funtionality in it. I strongly recommend you to use the WEBMAN backup manager for its simplicity to run your Games directly from the XMB. I hope I could help you. Welcome Brother! :ninja:
 
Hello, and thank you in advance! I do have some experience in "jailbreaking", mostly with iPhones, iPads, etc.. I have been scouring through this psxhax website trying to figure out how to jailbreak my playstation 3 and if I can master that I would love to be able to do my ps4. I am honestly just... confused... I did the Minimum Version Check test on my ps3; read something like 2.56?.. the current firmware that it is running is 4.81, this number i have ending in CECHL01 I do believe that would be considered the model number, its an old ps3 fat model.

I upgraded the hard disk drive to a 1tb version about a year ago now its a great system just would love to play a modded version of GTA V.. LOL. So my question just to rephrase is where can i find a "Jailbreak for dummies" guide without all of the fancy lingo or can someone walk me through it? Maybe there are some legitimate video tutorials.. preferably in english?! Like I said thank you in advance!
 
According to the Downgradable PS3 Models yours can be downgraded to run CFW (Custom Firmware) with a hardware flasher since as you mentioned it's currently running 4.81 OFW (Official Firmware).

You can either look into getting one yourself or getting someone who offers a downgrading service to do it for you.

Another option besides CFW is to check out the newer methods of getting game backups to work, here are some guide links to those:

Thank you, would these alternative methods allow me to mod games or only CFW could do that?

Also, how would I go about doing this hardware flashing that you spoke of; could you recommend any hardware flashers, or someone who offers the downgrading service?
 
I wouldn't recommend doing the hardware flasher yourself unless you are real techy, can tear apart your console, solder tiny pads and wires, etc... our Moderator @racer0018 does them though ;)
