Proceeding the 7.02 PS4 KEX, 6.72 PS4 Webkit Port, 6.72 PS4 Payloads and the 6.72 PS4JB Exploit today PlayStation 4 developer @MODDEDWARFARE returns via Twitter with PS4 Backporter v1.4 tool for backporting 6.72 to 5.05 FPKG Games alongside a new demo video below from his YouTube Channel and more updates! šŸ˜

Download: PS4 Backporter v1.4.zip (76.5 MB)

Spoiler: Depreciated

This comes following the PS4 6.72 to 5.05 Backporting Tutorial, SELFUtil by Znullptr, PS4 RiPKiT/Modding/Cheat/BackPort Tool and EZ PS4 Downporter utility for backporting 6.72 games to run on 5.05 Firmware with a Jailbroken console.

Here are some PS4 Backporter v1.0.exe notes from his Tweets below:
  • Still very much work in progress and has a few bugs. Will release a new version later. A known bug right now is that you can't set the output path to the root of the drive. If you do it wont save the final pkg file.

  • Also won't work with EA titles right now. Due to all the extra patching that's needed to get those games working.

  • Drag pkg file into "input pkg file". Click the button.

Hi MW! Thanks for all the tutorials! REALLY nice job, keep on doing.
I have a strange problem and I can't find anything on the web about it, so you might help!

I can't install any of games that are patched for 6.72. The installation of the game never finishes and I receive a following message::
UPDATE SYSTEM SOFTWARE TO USE EXTENDED STORAGE.

I'm on 5.05
Then under the icon of the game is sign of unfinished loading marked with "X"
Please advice!

When I install a backported patch over the base game, the size of the game increases by order of 100GB. For example, if a game is 20G in size, after installing backported patch it shows as 120G. Note that the game runs on 5.05 fine, but the size oddly enough grows by 100GB.

This issue has happened either when I installed backported patches that I downloaded OR when I used Backporter 1.3 to create the fix myself.

Have you experienced similar thing? What can be the issue? any suggestions?

Couple of examples:
  • SoulCalibur VI: base game + 1.51 update + fix for 1.51 fix (created by Backporter 1.3)
  • Shadow Of Tomb Raider Definitive Edition: Base + fix (created by Backported 1.3)
  • eFootbal PES 2020: base game + 1.04 update + fix for 1.04 (created by Backported 1.3)
  • Samurai Shodown : Basegame + downloaded fix
  • Red Faction Guerrilla ReMarsTered : Base + downloaded fix

Follow up to my earlier post: It turns out the patch fix that wrongfully increases the game size has a "right.sprx" that cannot be downgraded properly. I think that is the source of the problem.

Example: Using Backporter 1.3, I created 5.05 patch fix for base game of CUSA14927. Then extracted it and investigate each elf file. As you can see right.sprx does not have what downgrade_elf looks for!
Code:
BackPort\CUSA14927-patch>python ..\downgrade_elf.py --***-version 05.050.001 --verbose sce_sys\about\right.sprx-decrypted sce_sys\about\right.sprx
processing elf file: sce_sys\about\right.sprx
module file detected
wanted *** version: 05.050.001
searching for module param segment...
warning: param segment not found (elf from old ***?)
searching for version segment...
parsing library list...
fixing elf header...
done
