Take-Two Interactive Orders OpenIV to Halt Game Modding Tools
Recently @Foe (our buddy Jake :giggle:) pointed out that Take-Two Interactive Software who oversees publishers including Rockstar Games and 2K Games sent a cease and desist order to OpenIV claiming that the GTA modding software tools defeat security features in place violating their rights.

Despite an active online petition to save OpenIV (we all know how effective those tend to be ) the OpenIV Team's lead developer GooD-NTS decided to discontinue work on their editing platform after nearly 10 years dealing a huge blow to the Grand Theft Auto modding scene.

Here's what he had to say on the situation, to quote: "We feared that this day would come... And now it's here. The day, when GTA modding was declared illegal. GTA modding had long and glorious history.

Since GTA III, people have created lots of different mods: from simple texture replacements to impressive full conversions. And the modding always was a "gray zone" -- a battlefield between lawyers and PR... For almost ten years of OpenIV development, we had tried to play as nice as possible and even more:
  • Strictly following of Civil Code of Russia (only reverse engineering for interoperability).
  • Only clean-room reverse engineering.
  • No distribution of original data and code.
  • And absolutely no messing with Online...
On June 5th, 2017, we had received an official Cease-and-Desist letter. It clearly says, that with OpenIV we "allow third parties to defeat security features of its software and modify that software in violation Take-Two's rights".
  • Yes, this letter is illiterate both technically and grammatically (really, they don't even bothered with proof-reading the text).
  • Yes, we can go to court and yet again prove that modding is fair use and our actions are legal.
  • Yes, we could. But we decided not to.
Going to court will take at least few months of our time and huge amount of efforts, and, at best, we'll get absolutely nothing. Spending time just to restore status quo is really...
PS4All v1.1 Open-Source PlayStation 4 (PS4) RTE Tool Updates
Following the PS4 RTM 1.76 Guide and Example Tool Template today Red (aka ItsDeidara) announced PS4All update v1.1 of the open-sourced PS4 RTE Tool previously known as PSe7en for those on jailbroken PlayStation 4 consoles with details below. :thumbsupxf2:

It's important to note he did not use any guides nor templates when creating PS4All though.

Download: PS4All (Latest) / GIT

To quote: PS4All - Open Sourced PS4 RTE Tool

Today I would like to both announce and release the first public open sourced RTE Tool for the PlayStation 4.

The goal of this project is to both expand the current current selection of public RTE tools available to public, but also provide a singular place to house them all so that users do not need to download multiple applications to modify their system.

Changelog:
  • Cleaned GUI
  • Added the option to poke custom offsets and attach to any game (Other)

Please note that this application is a WiP and that it will constantly be changing as more people contribute to it and more offsets are found.

Download: PS4Packer v1.0.1.1 / GTA V Save Editor v2.3.0.0 / XB36Hazards_Installer.rar (2.2 MB - Mirror by Figure03)

Based on their recent Tweets it appears Save Wizard is planning to introduce several new features to their application directly, which isn't surprising as PS4 Developers have also made progress with savegames in recent months so here's to hoping we see some free / open-source PlayStation 4 save editors in the pipeline from sceners. <3

PS4 Packer.gif Below are some additional details from XB36Hazard on Discord via @Bultra about his recent updates, to quote:

"Each user/device id for 'Save Wizard' can only edit 4 PSN accounts. You can change theses accounts every month. Save Wizard checks for the profile id when save is uploaded, if its not on the valid list then the save is denied.

If there is another way to decrypt/encrypt PS4 saves for V you can still use my save editor for free. Save Wizard is only used to encrypt/decrypt the saves."

PS4 Pro Price Drop Not Planned per Shuhei Yoshida at E3 2017
In an E3 2017 interview via Indonesian blog JagatPlay.com with additional details on Japanese site AV Watch, the President of Sony's Worldwide Studios Shuhei Yoshida said there are no plans to offer a PS4 Pro price drop to PlayStation fans. :cryingxf2:

Currently the PS4 Pro is selling for $100 less than Microsoft's upcoming XBox One X console, and from PushSquare.com comes his translated response to quote:

“Do you think it’s too expensive?” Worldwide Studios president Shuhei Yoshida quipped when asked about a potential price drop.

“We are very happy with the quality of the games that are playable on the PS4 Pro, and the feedback that we get back from consumers is also really positive. So, we don’t have any plans to change.”
