Ukko's Journey Released: Very First PS3, PS4 & XB1 Blu-Play Title!
A few weeks back I shared a preview of my Blu-ray disc Java (BD-J) game, and now Ukko's Journey is officially released at www.Blu-Play.com; the very first "Blu-Play" homebrew game for PS3, PS4 and XB1!

Intro

"Ukko's Journey" was originally developed as a cellphone game back in 2008-2009 by LuBlu Entertainment.

Now here in 2017 the same team has ported the game to Blu-Play, proof-of-concept demonstration to show an example of a what you can do with Blu-Play.

Blu-Play games are "small-scale homebrew games coded with Blu-ray Disc Java (BD-J), and which therefore runs on any game-console that comes with a built-in Blu-ray player", which at present time includes PS3, PS4 and XB1. In other words, you don't need a special version of a Blu-Play title in order to run it on your console. One disc runs on all. More about Blu-Play here.

Demonstrated Blu-Play elements
  • Performance: The game plays with 50+ fps
  • Audio: Plays ingame music + sound-effects
  • Persistent storage: Remembers your settings between disc ejects
  • Controls: 11 buttons on the gamepad useable
  • Internet: Uploads/downloads highscores to/from UkkosJourney.com
  • Network: Sends the cellphone version of the game to your Wi-Fi connected JavaME enabled phone via your local network
Download

Ukko's Journey is 100% free.

How can I get to play this?

For a stock PS3 / PS4 you need to burn the ISO onto a BD-R or BD-RE disc, which means you need a Blu-ray burner. Luckily Blu-ray burners has become very affordable now, and a BD-R disc only costs about half a euro. If you buy a BD-RE, it can be re-used several thousand times due to the small size of Blu-Play games.

For a jailbroken PS3 you can run the ISO from harddisk by mounting the ISO with webMAN or multiMAN from the BDISO folder.

For Xbox One you can burn the ISO onto a DVD, which means you need a DVD burner. (If you have a Blu-ray burner, BD-R and BD-RE naturally works too). You can also play the ISO from harddisk on your PC if you have a software media-player...
PlayBook 4 S & PlayBook 4 Pro - PS4 Slim Laptop Mods Demo Video
PlayStation 4 console case modder Eddie Zarick (YouTube Channel) of Ed's Junk recently shared a demonstration video of his latest creation, a 19" laptop with a built in PS4 Slim (dubbed PlayBook 4 S, with pictures of a 24" PlayBook 4 Pro also below) for portable gaming on the go complete with HDMI output! :geekxf2:

If anyone out there with deep pockets is interested, the PlayBook 4 System goes for $1,495.00 plus $150 shipping to the 48 US States or $1,195.00 if you supply the PS4 Slim console to be modded.

Below is his latest PlayBook 4 S New Slim PS4 Laptop demo video, and from PlayBook4.com, to quote:

"Once you open up the PlayBook 4 S you will be surprised at how big the 19″ screen actually is for the size of the system. I tried my best to keep as small as a bezel as I could around the LCD without compromising the integrity of the case.

The screen sits at a good height while the hinges provide enough tension to be able to adjust the angle of the screen as you wish. Below you will notice a couple of stereo speakers and TV control along with the Blu-ray drive, 2 USB and a power and eject button.

The speakers provide loud crisp audio, while the small black TV controller button allows you to adjust the volume along with other TV settings, like brightness and contrast. The screen is HD, but only supports 720p. Unfortunately it is next to impossible to find 1080p screens in the 19″ size. But, the HDMI in the back will support full 1080p output to your external Big screen at home!

On the back of the system you will notice more air vents to keep the PS4 nice and cool. On either side of the vents you have a ethernet port for wired internet access (and yes, Wi-Fi still works just fine!) and then power and HDMI out.

The HDMI out is great for still being able to use the PS4 on your large screen when your at home. Please note, when using it at home, you can turn off the LCD and still get HDMI out, also you must keep the screen open for the PS4 to keep cool.

So can you get one of these PlayBooks? Of COURSE! I build these to order and you can have your own custom PS4 that you can not get in the...
PS4 1.76 Payload Packet for Webkit Playground by eXtreme-Modding
Last week we saw a Setting Up & Building Payload.bin Tutorial, and following their OMSK App PS4 PKG Overview the folks at e✘treme-Modding.de shared a PS4 1.76 Payload Packet for easy code execution using the WebKit Playground. ;-)

Download: PS4-1.76-Payload_Packet.rar (53 KB) / PS4 Exploit Patches / Payloads

To quote from their page: PS4 1.76 Payload Packet – Easy Code Execution

Activate Internet Browser – FTP Server – Debug Settings

In this packet you will find 4 Payloads and 4 .bat files for a easy code execution via the WebKit Playground. You can change the IP in the .bin files with the Payload IP Patcher/Editor.

All you have to do is edit the .bat files with your PS4 IP, click on Start (Playground) and then execute a .bat file.
Cheers to @VultraAID for sharing the news tip in the PSXHAX Shoutbox!
SceSblAuthMgrAuthHeader: PS4 Executable File Decryption on Console
We've seen PS4 UserModules Decryption, PS4 EBOOT / SPRX Decryption, PS4 Game PKG Decryption and PS4 PUP Update Decryption leading up to PlayStation 4 developer @zecoxao's latest Twitter hint on sceSblAuthMgrAuthHeader. o_O

Before you ask (like I was about to :p), @LightningMods has us covered in the PSXHAX Shoutbox reminding us that previously developer CTurt blogged about it briefly in his Hacking the PS4: Part 2 Userland code execution analysis.

To quote: Executable files with kernel access

The following two kernel functions seem to deal with the majority of integrity checks of executable files: sceSblAuthMgrAuthHeader and sceSblAuthMgrIsLoadable.

With kernel code execution, executable files can be directly decrypted on the console, however there isn't much benefit to this over just loading the module and dumping it from userland.

And now we know, and knowing is half the battle... here's to hoping more great PS4 stuff is in the pipeline! :geek:
From Pastebin:
Code:
ERROR: W:\Build\J00739801\sys\internal\modules\sbl\authmgr\authmgr_secure_module.c:verifyHeader(626) mail retval err -37
[KERNEL] ERROR: segment #3 of "/mnt/usb0/hello_world.elf" is not page aligned.
ERROR: found illegal segment header in /mnt/usb0/hello_world.elf.
In summary from @zecoxao, it authenticates the PS4 self header before...
