PS4 Act.dat and PlayStation 4 RIF File Research Findings by IDC
Yesterday we saw his 1.76 PS4 Entrypoint, and today PlayStation 4 developer IDC returns with some PS4 Act.dat and PS4 RIF research documentation stating he will likely add the required code used to restore an act.dat backup to his Github soon as well. :tree::geek:

This news comes following the RIF Samples and PS4 IDX Generator / GenIDX Tool as PlayStation 4 developer @CrazyVoid hinted that both RIF and IDX files are going to be an important part to PS4 game backups and homebrew in the future.

To quote from the Dev Wiki: Act.dat

File Handling


On 1.76, act.dat is loaded and updated by the SceShellCore process.

Beyond 1.76, act.dat is loaded and updated directly by the kernel.

File Verification

A HMACSHA256 of the entire act.dat file using the SHA256 of the OpenPsId as the key is stored in Vtrm using SceShellCore's process ID in slot 0.

SceShellCore's process ID is 0x3800000000000010.

Note: sceSblVtrm* are kernel functions.

This prevents easily adding or replacing the act.dat file directly. You will need to update this HMAC to prevent the act.dat file from being deleted when adding or replacing it.

File

An act.dat file is made up of 1 to 21 sequential activation structures.

The file is truncated to valid activation structures, so its size will be a multiple of 512.

GTA V PS4 Natives Port for PlayStation 4 v1.76 by John Valincius
Following the previous updates, confirmations, PS4 GTA V Native Caller and handy Pastebin for Grand Theft Auto modders recently John Valincius ported @kurt2467's GTA5 PS3 Native Invoker for PS4 1.76 console owners. :biggrinxf2:

How to use
  1. Send the included loader payload (loader/loader.bin) to your PS4, you should then get a notification
  2. Build your payload
  3. Rename to plugin1.bin
  4. Copy to USB
  5. Plug USB into right USB port on the PS4 (usb0)
  6. Start game and you should get a message saying payload was loaded
Creating mods

Function loop is our entry point, this will be called whenever IS_PLAYER_ONLINE is called.

Bugs
  1. Sometimes the loader payload will crash, I will fix this if enough people complain about it

The source contains a sample menu base with a couple of options. Spawn vehicle is a little bugged as the car spawns under the map, I don't have much time to fix it though.

Use optimization where possible as we do not have a lot of executable memory with this method.

I haven't exactly tested this in a while so let me know whether it's working or not.

We've seen PS4 Azura GTAV Mod Menus, Far Cry 4 PS4 Mod Menus followed by a PS4 Packer / GTA V Save Editor and now PlayStation 4 developer @0x199 made available a GTA V Firebreather Mod PC to PS4 1.76 port for those with jailbroken consoles to enjoy! :fire:

Following their PS4 NMount Payload and his help in both the CE-32875-5_Fix.bin and EapDev, PlayStation 4 developer VVildCard777 via zecoxao shared a video on Jose Coixao's YouTube Channel spotlighting Wildcard's Debug Settings in PS4 1.01 OFW. :D

As noted in the YouTube video's comments by @DarkElementPL, at 1:35 a Toggle_QA.PKG MEME makes a quick appearance before jumping to the Add Content Manager's Entitlement Control screen, to which @GrimDoe replies "~PS3~" as fast as it disappears. :ninja:

Debug settings from my friend wildcard in console with 1.01 version. Since 1.01 does not have store mode in it, he cannot patch it so he uses the combo from the wiki instead (that IDC has mentioned on Twitter)

PS4 flag enabler. should in theory enable all qa and utoken flags. for some reason it doesn't work with 9.00, but it likely works on older firmwares. i already sent the source to AlAzif so she can check it for mistakes
